Google was able to obtain a US court ruling that dropped a lawsuit that accused it of allowing Gemini artificial intelligence tools to track users’ communications and data without their knowledge or consent.
A federal judge in California issued a decision to dismiss the lawsuit, explaining that The two users who brought the case did not provide sufficient evidence to prove that their personal data was actually harmed as a result of using Gemini.
The lawsuit had alleged that Gemini had access to emails and other records associated with users' accounts, and that Google allowed some of its users to be tracked. Communications in a way that was not clear to users.
However, the court found that the allegations presented did not prove that the plaintiffs’ data specifically had been accessed or misused.
